Weems Westfeldt, Academy Director

PSIA Examiner & Clinic Leader, former Director of Operations at the Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen, former member of the PSIA Alpine Demonstration Team, author of The Sports Diamond (the new *organizing principle* of ESA), and freestyler in the best sense of the word.




Michael Rogan, ESA Head Coach

Michael has been teaching skiing since 1985. He is the Director of Skiing at Portillo, Chile in the summer and a Trainer/Instructor at Heavenly Valley CA during the winters. He has been on the National Demonstration Team since 1996, and is currently the team captain.

Jeb Boyd, ESA Head Coach

Jeb is serving a second term with the PSIA Alpine National Team and is a member of the PSIA-East educational staff. When not consulting with other resorts, he is busy developing the Arc2Arc Alpine Training Center, a comprehensive and innovative ski and snowboard coaching service.




Joan Rostad, ESA Administrator

PSIA Examiner & Clinic Leader (PSIA-NRM, emeritus), former PSIA Board member and officer, PSIA Life Member, Accredited ChildrenŐs Educator, USSCA Level I coach, president of EpicSki.




Terry Barbour

Mad River Glen Ski School Director Terry Barbour is a former member of the PSIA National Alpine Team, and has been honored as one of the top 100 ski instructors in North America by Skiing Magazine




Bob Barnes

PSIA Examiner & Clinic Leader (Rocky Mountain division), author of The Encyclopedia of Skiing, Training Director at Keystone, and EpicSki’s foremost authority on the Technique & Instruction forums.




Robin Barnes

Robin is a new member of the PSIA National Alpine Team. She is a PSIA Examiner & Clinic leader (Western division) and a Certified Fitness Professional. Robin is a perennial on SKI Magazine's Top 100 Instructor List.




Martin Bell

A four-time Olympian and four-time British overall Alpine skiing champion, Martin is the Sports Editor of the Big Sky Weekly (www.thebigskyweekly.com) and the Equipment Editor of Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard magazine (www.metrosnow.co.uk). Currently coaching at The Yellowstone Club, Montana, he also runs camps for children in Zermatt with Powder Byrne, and courses for adults in Davos with Davos Dreams.




Jerry Berg

Jerry is certified by the PSIA, French, and Australian Ski Instructor Associations, as well as by USSCA and ASCA. He served on the PSIA National Alpine Team from 1988-1992 and is a PSIA-RM Examiner. He has taught at Aspen, Vail, Crested Butte, Buller, Thredbo and Perisher in over 37 years as a professional ski instructor.




Mermer Blakeslee

For the past 20 years, Mermer has trained instructors as a PSIA Clinician and Examiner (Eastern division). She is a former a member of the PSIA National Team and now serves as a selector for that team. Mermer travels all over the country educating industry professionals. Her book, In the Yikes! Zone: A Conversation with Fear (Dutton, 2002) emerged from her work as the "ski industry’s fear expert."




Eric DesLauriers

Coach for X-Team Advanced Ski Clinics, Director of All Mountain Ski Professionals of Sugar Bowl, California, a perennial nominee on SKI Magazine’s list of the Top 100 instructors, co-author (with his brother Rob) of Ski The Whole Mountain (2002), Eric has appeared in 23 ski movies filmed all over the world since 1989, and has numerous first descents in the mountains of Alaska and the Andes.




Megan Harvey

Megan was on the PSIA National Team for three terms and now serves as a selector of that team. She is an instructor and trainer with the Ski and Snowboard Schools of Aspen. She skied competitively on the US National Nor-Am Series, the University of Wyoming’s Women’s Varsity Ski Team, and was selected as a member of the US Team to the World University Games in Bulgaria in 1989. Megan has also competed in the 24-Hours of Aspen and Powder 8 Championships and was a stunt skier in the movie “Ski Extreme IV.”




Bud Heishman, Boot Fitter

Bud Heishman is a former PSIA examiner, PSIA Western division demo team member, past Salomon sales/service rep, and current ski shop owner and boot balancing specialist with 16 years of experience. He’s balanced boots for hundreds of skiers including Olympic medalists, elite racers, National PSIA D team members, and average Joes. Learn more about him from his website at www.snowind.com




Nick Herrin

Nick Herrin resides in Telluride, where he is the Assistant Director of the Ski & Snowboard School. He was named to a second term on the PSIA National Alpine Team, is a PSIA Examiner and Clinician (PSIA-NRM). Also listed as one of the top 100 ski instructors in SKIMagazine, Nick and his partner Troy Nedved were the National Powder 8 Champions in 2005 and placed 3rd at the world championships that year.




Ursula Howland

A former PSIA Examiner and Clinic Leader (PSIA-NRM), Ursula is an instructor-trainer at Big Sky, Montana. She is both PSIA and German State Certified, is one of SKI Magazine’s perennial Top-100 instructors, equipment expert, corporate pilot, with 33 years of teaching experience with a competitive background in freestyle skiing and gymnastics.




Roger Kane

PSIA Examiner & Clinic Leader (Central division, emeritus), USSCA Level I coach, PMTS™ Trainer, 37 years of teaching experience, “Arcmeister” is one of the most eloquent philosophers writing on the Ski Technique and Instruction forums at EpicSki.




Charlie MacArthur

A former member of the PSIA National Alpine Team, Charlie was recently named to the PSIA National Nordic Team. He is a PSIA-Rocky Mountain examiner and a triple-certified alpine/snowboard/telemark trainer for the Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen




Jenny MacArthur

A former member of the Australian Demo Team, Jenny is a PSIA-Rocky Mountain examiner, Aspen Divas team member, and a trainer for the Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen.




Jim Schanzenbaker

A new member of the PSIA National Alpine Team on his second term, Jim is a trainer and pro in the Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen. He also teaches in the summer at Coronet Peak in New Zealand. Jim and his partner Andy Docken have He placed second in the World Powder 8’s championships.




Squatty Schuler

Squatty is an examiner with PSIA-Rocky Mountain and one of the driving forces in the training department at Snowmass. He was named “Colorado Instructor of the Year” in 2004.
