Epic Ski Academy - Video Motion Analysis

Video Motion Analysis (MA) is an integral component of EpicSki Academy with evening video viewing sessions.

Before

Here Liz demonstrates a clear example of banking: watch as her whole body inclines and her weight falls onto the inside ski. The dominant pressure point moves over the heel of her inside foot, away from the arch and ball of her outside foot. By standing on the wrong end of the wrong foot, she’s fundamentally out of balance. This affects her ability to use her skiing skills and her skis to manage the forces of the turn. The excessive lead of the inside half, dragging of the outside ski, and hands close to the body are typical of a back seat "park and ride" posture.

After

Following boot alignment by Bud Heishman and three days of coaching, Liz is skiing with a functional stance, confidently driving forward, and is angulating! Watch how she is flexing and tipping by using separate joints to adjust the angle of the skis to the snow. Note how she is constantly adjusting her own angles while maintaining balance and rhythm throughout the run. She keeps her pressure point forward and onto the outside ski, which allows her to maintain balance against the forces of the turn. Her new ability to dynamically balance allows her to perform the skiing skills intentionally, selectively and positively. You can even see the improvements extending to her poling and her timing/coordination.
